Canada’s Federal Budget only as good as government who implements it, says NDP

Monday, January 26th, 2009

OTTAWA – New Democrat leader Jack Layton is blasting Stephen Harper for failing to have a plan for the economy that Canadians can trust. In a desperate effort to stay in power said Layton, Stephen Harper is now promising the kind of economic measures he ridiculed just weeks ago.

  Jack Layton

“Stephen Harper doesn’t believe in what he’s now promising” said Layton. “How can you trust someone to implement a multi-billion stimulus package that they don’t believe in?” asked Layton. “Do Canadians want Harper to be given a blank cheque on the biggest economic crisis in generations?

Layton pointed to the Building Canada Fund, where money promised by Harper years ago for municipal infrastructure has not been issued. Now with infrastructure deficits spiralling, the Harper Conservatives are using the economic crisis as an excuse to force municipalities that apply for infrastructure money to scrap environmental assessments that protect air, soil and water quality.

Layton assured Canadians most vulnerable to economic instability that New Democrats would not let them be left behind in the economic recovery. Assistance to Canadian families hit hard by the economic downturn must join investment in infrastructure, housing and renewable energy.

“Working families can’t afford more failed policies, more mistakes, more bad management of the economy,” Layton said.

Website development: The Proof is in the Reading

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

by Diego Norte

Have you ever gone to a website and actually found spelling errors? I have and it always amazes me. In this day and age of computer technology, proofreading seems like it would be relatively simple to implement and maintain.

Web pages are no exception. Website authorship means the responsibility of making sure that the information is understandable, but also that the punctuation, the grammar, and the spelling are correct. You also want to make sure that all of the work is properly formatted and that your information is accurate. This is all part of the proofing process.

There are several reasons why proofing your web page is important. Please note that this is only from personal observation.

1. Readers may come to your website and instinctively sense that you many not be as authoritative because of errors in spelling or grammar.

2. Readers who come to your site may find that it is not very professionally done if they see errors that should have been clearly apparent to you as the author before posting. Even if these are not big errors, it sometimes lingers in the back of the mind of the reader which also distracts them from the subject matter that you want them to focus on.

3. Proofing also indicates the level of attention to detail that you might have regarding your ideas or subject.

How can you make sure that your website is not hiding any spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors? This is easier than you might think, even if you aren’t a spelling bee champion or an English teacher!

1. Use spell check and grammar check regularly. These are not infallible, however, they will bring things to your attention that might be beneficial if changed.

2. After working on your content, walk away from it for a short while and then return to look it over later. You can always benefit from another look at your work at a later time.

3. Have another individual read over the content for you. It is easy to think a word or phrase is correct and re-read it so many times only to miss an error. A fresh pair of eyes can often help find these errors. There have been several times that I have enlisted someone else’s aid in reading over my articles and have been surprised at what is found. (This sometimes occurs when I have been working long hours on a particular project).

So, if you are one of those people who likes to see the perfection of your website and know that others will expect it of you also, try these simple tips to create a more professional web page! You will never be sorry that you double-checked your work or tried to improve on the content of your web page.

Harper government awards CTV Globe Media with two Senate positions

Monday, January 12th, 2009

CTV Broadcaster Mike Duffy, and his former colleague Pamela Wallin, were among 18 Conservatives appointed by the Stephen Harper government just before Christmas. The appointing of such veteran journalists to Senate patronage positions further demonstrates a deep level of apparent collusion between Canadian political elites and journalists. Apparently, gone are the days of shows like This Hour Has Seven Days, the kept politicians on their toes before the debut of 60 Minutes in the United States.

Now it is apparent that Canadian journalists, with a particular reference to CTVGlobeMedia’s strident pro-Conservative apparent bias, view themselves a public relations dissemblers for agendas of the elites. The cover-up of the North American Union (NAU) agenda, is one of many examples of Canada’s journalists selling out Canadians, in the hopes of securing various emoluments through prostituting themselves to the highest bidder.

The appointment of these 18 Senators, further demonstrates Harper’s professed desire to pursue the democratic reform of the Senate, is little more than the rhetoric of a con, with little respect for integrity and ethics. Such actions, of course, is consistent with the Harper’s vulgar apparent collusion with autocratic-minded Monarchists, to “prorogue Parliament”. This proroguing was such an affront to a responsible democracy, that it even drew ridicule from the normally parochial Americans, who are generally not particularly interested in the politics of their Canadian neighbour.

The Harper government has demonstrated once more that it is a true representative of a system of ‘crony’ capitalism, that disregards parliamentary responsibility, while seeking to promote individuals and groups that participate in their secret agenda to destroy Canada.

It remains to be seem if we, as Canadians will collectively wake up in time to save our society from the cynical milieu, that Harper has further exposed, in his appointments of journalists that we as Canadians entrust to keep his government honest and accountable. What next? Police getting and then accepting awards from pimps, and criminal syndicates?

Forging a Progressive Coalition Government: Canadian author suggests Stephen Harper’s negligence has roots in Eugenics ideology

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Stéphane Dion, Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe reportedly signed the Agreement for a Coalition Government on 1 December 2008, in response to the Stephen Harper government’s systematized negligence on taking proactive steps on defending Canada from the prevailing economics crisis. This includes vital threats to job security.

The Stephen Harper government has also pursued an overall post-Federal Election reactionary agenda, that further threatens Canada’s vital social programmes, and overall Canadian sovereignty. Mr. Harper has also further abused parliament, as he pursues his clandestine North American Union (NAU) agenda. It is apparent that Mr. Harper and his Conservative Party choose “capitalistocracy” (rule by an elite clique of capitalists) over the affirmation of a consensual and participatory parliamentary democracy.

However, it was Canadian author Trevor Harrison who provided perhaps prophetic insights on Mr. Harper’s ideological motivations on failing to redress the threat to Canadians posed by the prevailing economic crisis. Apparently, the Conservative Party’s abdication of taking proactive public administrative leadership is not because of some kind of “political absent-mindedness“ or “cluelessness“.

Rather, Mr. Harrison appears to suggest that a eugenics ideology affinity has motivated the negligence observed by Canadians in general, and Opposition Party leaders at their 1 December 2008 news conference on the signing of an Agreement for a Coalition Government.

Apparently, Mr. Harper is using Canadian governmental authority to advance the ultra right wing ideological goals that Trevor Harrison outlines in his book. Mr. Harrison documents in the book entitled Of Passionate Intensity, that Prime Minister Stephen Harper was a member of the ultra-right wing Northern Foundation in 1989. Mr. Harrison documents that this Foundation was comprised of eugenics-inspired Neo-Nazi social Darwinist intellectuals.

The Northern Foundation of which Mr. Harper was a member, is a male-dominated and self-anointed “White Brotherhood”. Females are not excluded though, provided that they accept its highly conformist and male chauvinistic culture of fascism.

Mr. Harper would eventually “officially” break-away from this group. Indeed, it would be unfair to Mr. Harper, to continually link him ideologically to a group that he may have simply sought to explore, in his process of political introspection and outreach. However, upon closer examination, the substantive policy direction of the Conservative government, appears to be emphatically driven by the expressed agenda of the Northern Foundation.

Eugenics is a far right wing ideology, which embraces the social Darwinistic construct that public policy must be consistent with a “survival of the fittest” context. In the Eugenics world-view, proactive economic policy would weaken society, by “wasting” money and other precious societal resources on “inferiors”. In the eugenics world view, for example, if people lose their jobs, then they should be left to fend for themselves. Eugenics practitioners reject also, universal public healthcare, cultural programmes, and the overall context of social responsibility that is an quintessential part of Canada’s national identity as a progressive society.

Please review YouTube video below for an understanding of eugienics and related Social Darwinistic ideology that Stephen Harper and his colleagues apparently embrace in their hostile agenda against Canadian institutions.

It is apparent that the Stephen Harper government, based upon Mr. Harrison’s book, could be perceived to view Canadian society as a “project” that ought to be socially re-engineered to conform to the dystopic image of Eugenics ideology. It is historically notable that Adolf Hitler was one of the Eugenics movement’s historically greatest advocates.

It is ironic that Bloc Quebecois which thwarted a Conservative majority on 14 October 2008, that would have destroyed Canada, proved themselves in this Agreement, to be more responsible as parliamentarians in the House of Commons. Perhaps this is the kind of new pragmatism in Quebec that André Pratte was referring to when we authored the new book Reconquering Canada: Quebec Federalists Speak Up for Change. Royal Interference: Stephen Harper’s gambit to obtain a far-right Conservative majority government

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Stephen Harper has hood winked all the media and all of Canada, especially the opposition. It’s not about saving his government, or saving the PM job, it’s about getting a majority government. To do that he needs an election engineered to appear the opposition created it.

You may find this hard to believe but the PM has engineered this. He has the opposition parties in a box right where he wants them. What’s the end game… an election, one he’ll easily win with a majority.

If you’re a political wonk it’s a fantastic gambit, one no one would dream of making except someone who has used it before and won.

Never mind Quebec its irrelevant, he tried to his majority from Quebec and it didn’t work. The seats are in BC, Saskatchewan, Rural Ontario and Atlantic Canada. Just look at all the seats where the Conservatives came in a close second. Stephen Harper doesn’t make a move unless he knows what his next five moves are. Look at his track record with Preston Manning, the Alliance Party, and the ensuing take-over of the PC Party (that was executed with deceit against David Orchard, and his supporters).

Mark my words there will be an election in February because the apparently co-opted Governor General will give it to him. I’d venture that the only person on the planet knowing why he did this and what his next moves are himself. He’d never share this with anyone.

The mantra ” the coalition wants to take over the government without your say, without your consent and without your vote”. The rallying cry is “it’s undemocratic you have to let the people decide”

The election campaign has already begun, It’s going to be a three month campaign not a six week campaign. Watch for those ads deceptively claiming in effect ” we want an election, it’s the peoples right” and so on, and so forth.

Stephen Harper’s Coup: Subverting Democracy

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

We are in the worst crisis since 1929 and we have no government. How can this be good?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper suspended Canada’s parliament to avoid a challenge from opposition parties that were planning to oust him from power.

The Coalition also opposed his initial “proposed elimination of subsidies for political parties, a three-year ban on the right of civil servants to strike, and limits on the ability of women to sue for pay equity.” Governor General Michaelle Jean helped Harper to hang on by using her constitutional authority to close the legislature for seven weeks. (until Jan 27, 2009) Now the country is in a furor.

Harper can now harpoon Canada, with no discussion or debates

Harper has roots as a far right conservative ideologue who served as president of the National Citizens Coalition (NCC), a conservative think-tank and advocacy group. The organization opposes national healthcare but supports privatization and tax cuts. It has 40,000 members but the names are kept confidential. It’s motto is “more freedom with less government.”

The Prime Minister has been a staunch supporter of George Bush and the U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many of his critics accuse him of being a neoconservative allied to the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and the Bilderburger Group. He is alleged to be a proponent of plans for a North American Union (NAU), which is an elitist scheme to end U.S. sovereignty by merging the three countries — Canada, the U.S., and Mexico — into one neo-fascist inspired “superstate”. The plan coincides with Harper’s unwavering support for “free trade” (that allows Canada to be taken over by U.S. corporations).

Harper’s also appears to be operating as an operative for organizations with clandestine right wing agenda: Do you remember the media report about a video of him giving a speech that was also given by Australian PM John Howard prior to the war in Iraq. The speeches are identical — word for word — indicating that they must have been written by a third party connected with a common right wing agenda.

The video dispels any illusion that Karzai, Abbas, and Siniora are the only sock-puppets working for Washington. LINK

“Harper has already laid out an agenda that would fundamentally change this country — in ways most Canadians would oppose. While this agenda is not “secret,” my guess is few Canadians know about it… Sometime in the dark of night last 20 June 2008, the Harper government posted a plan on the Department of National Defence’s website — called Canada First Defence Strategy — to spend an eye-popping $490 billion over the next 20 years on the military.

It’s hard to imagine an agenda with more profound consequences for Canadians, beginning with a dramatic reordering of national priorities. Public health care? Child poverty? Fighting global warming?

While the election campaign has focused on economic issues, the military and its combat role in Afghanistan have actually been the centrepieces of the Harper administration. Harper has tried to reshape the way Canadians think about Canada, weaning us off our fondness for peacekeeping (and medicare, for that matter), and getting us excited about being a war-making nation, able to swagger on the world stage in the footsteps of the Americans.” (Reference: Linda McQuaig, “Stephen Harper: Bulking up Pentagon North”, the Toronto Star).

Harper’s government manipulates English-speaking Canada over criticism of alleged “separatist coalition”

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

When much of so-called English-speaking Canada bought into Stephen Harper’s reference to the prospects of a “Coalition government” as “separatist”, they were being manipulated. This is not only because Stephen Harper on 9 September 2004 wrote then Governor General Adrienne Clarkson in pursuit of an alliance with the same Bloc Quebecois. This is also because, arguably, the Bloc support of a Liberal-NDP Coalition government in the medium and into the long-term, would take the steam out of separatist claims of cultural-political alienation in Canada.

In a Liberal-NDP coalition, the progressive values supported by the Bloc would be endorsed by the Coalition. This includes support for the Kyoto Protocol and vital cultural programmes.

The effect of such a Coalition would arguably be to bring Canadians together on common progressive values, and to lessen the need for Quebecers to pursue such values outside of Canadian Confederation.

The Bloc would eventually need to re-define itself away from further pursuing Quebec sovereignty into being a de facto federalist political party, that seeks to defend the social cultural integrity of Quebec within Canada.

The envisioned Liberal-NDP coalition would therefore arguably serve to eventually sweep separatism off the Canadian map as a continuing viable threat to national unity in Canada.

It is apparent that Stephen Harper’s rhetoric was aimed not at national unity. Instead, Mr. Harper apparent fear of the Bloc, was that it might undermine his right wing agenda, that has nothing to do with affirming national unity in Canada. This right wing agenda pivots on his apparent support for the clandestine North American Union (NAU) agenda, that has been covered-up by co-conspiring elite owners of Canada’s mass media.

The NAU agenda has surfaced in media outlets in the U.S. that notably include coverage by Harvard educated and veteran CNN anchor Lou Dobbs.

It is apparent that elites feared that the Dion’s support of a Progressive Coalition would either frustrate or derail their NAU agenda.

Canada’s CTV endorses Conservative Party in Federal Election 2008

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Are you a Stephen Harper government supporter who is seeking a television network that champions a strong Conservative Party bias? You might wish to check out the Canadian Television Network (CTV), and its affiliates. You might also wish to start off with CTV veteran Mike Duffy and company.

It is apparent that CTV’s uncritical coverage of Stephen Harper’s policy positions, including tax cuts, is an attempt to dumb down Canadians into accepting policies that would further destroy Canada. If the management of CTV sought to provide investigative journalistic coverage, they would expose the economic disparity that has worsened in Canada under such prevailing government policies. While Mr. Harper cuts social programmes by pursuing such policies that undermine the quality of living of Canadian cities, his government increases welfare for elites, that are linked to a U.S. political-military-industrial complex.

Statistics Canada data also illuminate that Stephen Harper’s government has also been associated with, and responsible for the loss of over 180,000 manufacturing jobs in Canada since 2006. The idea that Stephen Harper’s corporate tax cut agenda creates jobs, as CTV’s coverage suggests, is sheer propaganda. Corporate tax cuts, are primarily used by large corporations to pad commercial profits so that elites can buy more of the finer things in life for themselves. Mr. Harper’s trickle down “Reaganomics” is a travesty against social justice.

CTV’s action of seeking to legitimate Conservative Party policy rhetoric, has also sought to create distorted scepticism against the Stéphane Dion Liberals, and has tried to pretend as much as possible, that the NDP and Greens ought to be disregarded. This Americanization of Canadian electoral media coverage of Canada as a “two party system”, emphasizes why Canadians ought to be more vigilant about defending their sovereignty against the kind of that American corporate backers that now support CTV/BCE/Bell Canada.

CTV gets our first prize, for our new “Lemon Awards” for its apparent, misleading and deceptive coverage, and reporting on the Federal Election of 2008.

America, what about the Iraqis?

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

I found myself listing to a talk radio show on NPR’s Philadelphia affiliate WHYY, which had focused in part on the agonies suffered by families of American troops killed or seriously maimed in Iraq.

Left unsaid — and this I think is the case in nearly all the reporting that gets done on the costs of the Iraq War that are being borne here in the US by relatives of troops - is the terrible reality that we’re talking about the relatives of just 4500 American servicemen and women killed, and perhaps 30,000 seriously wounded (not counting the hundreds of thousands suffering mental damage). Not to diminish that suffering, it needs to be pointed out that by some accounts, well over 1 million Iraqis have died in this illegal, uncalled-for and criminal war.

And most of the dead, contrary to what we are told by the corporate media, are victims of the U.S. military, not Iraqi bombers. The immense firepower of American forces, and the over-use of rockets, pilotless, rocket-firing drones, and aerial bombardment (designed to keep US casualties as low as possible), ensure high levels of civilian casualties (called collateral damage, or on rare occasions “unfortunate mistakes”), and we are unable to obtain accurate numbers because the U.S. “doesn’t do bodycounts.”

Most are also civilians, not combatants. According to one study conducted by the Christian Science Monitor, one of the nation’s most respected daily newspapers, the ratio of civilians killed by U.S. troops vs. enemy fighters killed was an appalling 30:1. As I’ve often noted, with a ratio like that it would be fairer to call any enemy fighters who are killed “collateral damage” in what should be seen as deliberate targeting of civilians.

And a disproportionate number of those civilians are children and young people. This has also been documented by researchers and has been observed anecdotally in hospitals. Children, because they are less aware of what’s going on around them, are less able to defend themselves, and are in general more vulnerable, are the main victims in this kind of brutal urban war fighting.

Now recall that for every Iraqi killed, whether that person is a fighter or a civilian, there is a grieving family, whose loss is every bit as terrible as is the loss suffered by an American family. What you get is perhaps 4-5 million Iraqis, in a nation of 24 million, who are suffering this inconsolable losses.

It is as though 50 million Americans had lost someone in the war.

But that’s just the dead and the relatives of the dead.

French scholar explores the emergence of a Bi-Polar World

Monday, June 25th, 2007

I was listening to Bob James prancing away on the piano, when I chanced upon the following reflections. I remembered that one of the predictions of Nostradamus was that an Arab prince would start the events that would lead to the “Third World War”. After reviewing the present trend in World politics, I became convinced that the Anti-Christ is now in the world, seeking for whom to destroy.

From the three points of the triangle, from the four points of the square, and from the twelve points of the Zodiac, I salute members of the Disunited nations.

I am a witness of the truth, as I know it about how the world got transformed into a unipolar entity as well as the disastrous consequences of this state of affairs worldwide. I witnessed the decades when leaders who were sure in their judgment ruled the world. I also lived through amazing times when some leaders governed through guess-work, hatred, dogmatism and so committed ergregarious blunders. As a result, many people now want a bipolar world to emerge once more.

Pundits are canvassing the expectation that the Russian Communist Party could win the next general elections next year. The Russian President, Vladimir Putin has said that he will not contest the forth-coming elections. The Russian Communist Party, having learnt from past mistakes appears poised to do very well next year. If that happens, ideological politics will take center stage and a bipolar world will emerge.

Latin American socialist states, Communist China, Communist Russia, the Asean states will forge a formidable alliance. This new block will have tremendous influence in world affairs. Some decades ago, these states were the target s of the Western nations because of their socialist aspirations.

I witnessed the era of the “containment” of Communism, and the combat of Communism, which later resulted in the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the emergence of pseudo-capitalist states in Eastern Europe. This, in turn, led to social dislocation, anarchy and a crude capitalist culture in Russia and former socialist states.

MacCarthyism fuelled the “containment doctrine”…

Book reveals Harper government has no plans to respect environmental commitements because of North American Union agenda

Friday, May 18th, 2007

The book entitled ‘Traitors Among Us: The Betrayers of Canada ISBN: 1897036310, and 1897036078, illuminates that the Stephen Harper government has no plans to respect any of its alleged environmental commitments. The is because of the North American Union (NAU) agenda, which Canada’s corporate elite driven media has sought to cover-up.

Make a Donation Pledge

These book both exposes and also challenges an apparent assumption by many of Canada’s corporate and political elites. This apparent assumption, championed by large mass-media conglomerates in Canada like CanWest Global, is that the only “rational” course for Canadian society, is to assimilate itself into the U.S. greed-driven political-military-industrial complex, which would further destroy Canada’s environment.

Canada, has been championed as an alternative society to “America” since time immoral. As Canada has evolved, since its cultural-political inception since 1535, the essence of its society has taken a distinctively socially progressive national identity. Jean Talon, Canada’s first Intendant in the “ancien regime” of New France, envisioned Canada as a Great and Powerful State, that was critically inspired by the Old World aboriginal civilizations of Canada, in synergy with “Old World” values of Europe. Prime Ministers of Canada before Brian Mulroney had all rejected so-called “Free Trade”, out of a now further substantiated concern that Canada’s vital social fabric, environmental heritage would be destroyed. CNN’s Lou Dobbs further slams the anti-democratic North American Union agenda

Friday, May 4th, 2007

The August Review reports that Harvard University educated veteran CNN anchor Lou Dobbs CNN continues to expose an apparent attempt by neo-conservatives to consolidate authoritarian power via North American Union (NAU) agenda, inclusive of the Security and Prosperity Partnership(SPP). The NAU is a plan to replace popular democratic control in Canada and the U.S., with control by unelected government of corporate executives, fascistic intellectuals, and related military interests.

The August Review is an exclusive Internet-based publication of World Research Library (WRL), and is edited by the Executive Director of WRL, Patrick M. Wood.

“To date, Dobbs is the only national broadcaster sounding the alarm”, cites the August Review.

Mr. Dobbs posed the question, “What I can’t understand is why more Americans aren’t asking why we have troops dying in Iraq, we have our troops posted in 40 nations around the world in the war on terror, but this government, this administration, refuses to secure our borders and our ports five and a half years after September 11th.”

Then he proceeded to answer it: “More now on one of our earlier reports: the unprecedented attack on this nation’s sovereignty, an assault that is deceptively called the Security and Prosperity Partnership. It aims to integrate the economies of Mexico, Canada, and the United States by the year 2010.”

With 14 state legislatures currently working though legislation to stop the Security and Prosperity Partnership, it is obviously not “just a myth” like so may elitists have claimed.
